Multi-day trips are often recorded as separate files, one per day. Merging combines every track, route, and waypoint from each file into a single GPX so you can view or import the whole trip at once.
Some GPS devices and route-planning apps cap the number of track points or waypoints they can load. Splitting a long route into stages — or breaking a bulk export with several activities into individual files — keeps each file within those limits.
The tool measures the total great-circle distance of the track, divides it by the number of segments you choose, and cuts the track at the nearest recorded point to each target distance. The cut points are shared between adjacent segments so there's no gap between stages.
Completely. Merging, splitting, and ZIP packaging all happen in your browser — no GPX file is ever uploaded to a server.
